SafetyNET p RTFN in coexistence with other Automation Protocols

SafetyNET p was developed as a flexible communication solution for industrial automation technology. There are two types of protocol available so that the different real time requirements of automation devices can be met. The RTFL (Real Time Frame Line) principle is used when cycle times are required in micro seconds. An example of this is Motion Control or extremely fast control solutions used in control technology.

The RTFN (Real Time Frame Network) has been optimised to achieve maximum compatibility with standard Ethernet machines and has the ability to provide a service. RTFN is based upon UDP/IP and can therefore be used with a standard infrastructure; special hardware support is not required. The next advantage is its compatibility to other IP (Internet Protocol) based services. Apart from conventional protocols these could also be office computers and other automation protocols. SafetyNET p RTFN can coexist and be used together with other protocols in the same network. An infrastructure for all automation machinery is all that is required. The prerequisite is of course the fact that the infrastructure must make a sufficient amount data rate available for the respective network user. This must be secured through relevant network planning. The protocols which can be used to coexist together with SafetyNET p are IP based protocols such as Modbus/TPC, Profinet RT and Ethernet/IP.
